16,944 people were fed in 2011! SIXTEEN-THOUSAND-NINE-HUNDRED-FORTY-FOUR!!!!How did it happen? Five-hundred hungry souls were touched and fed during the Kindness Coach. backpacks have been packed with food from Harvesters for kids at Merriam Park Elementary school on the free/reduced lunch program. Meals-on-Wheels have been delivered in Merriam. Over 1000 meals have been provided or purchased for people. Each week in the summer 41 packs of food were sent out to kids in families struggling to make ends meet. Baby food and soup and potatoes and ramen noodles and Jello, and beans and peanut butter were collected for local agencies that help hungry people. Donuts and cookies were provided for Shawnee-Mission School District Bus Drivers. Kids at area elementary schools had their hot lunches paid for by donations. Platters of cookies were delivered to the police station. A hot meal was cooked for the fire station staff. Fifty hungry families were given Thanksgiving food baskets. And on and on! All told, 16,944 people were fed as part of FEED 5000 in 2011. What is God going to do in 2012?
