Why are "Teachings" so important?

In the book of Colossians, the author writes, "Let the Word of Christ-the Message-have the run of the house. Give it plenty of room in your lives." (Col. 3:16, Message) Reading, studying, listening, sharing, discussing, and debating God's words allows people to dig deeper in their spiritual walk with Christ. Teachings are important because they help people to find depth and meaning in their lives.
